[Music] the employee ownership Equity Summit is for us uh the opportunity to bring together stakeholders from across different parts of the ecosystem that's really necessary to grow and scale employee ownership half of the small businesses in our community are owned by Baby Boomers most of them want to sell their business in the next couple of years and most of them won't so the question is what happens to those jobs what happens to those buildings what happens to that tax base what happens to the sales tax what happens to that wealth what happens to the community that centers itself uh right around that business I will say that this Summit that project Equity convened has probably been the most productive convening and Conference that I've ever been to you curated a group of people who are passionate about this who are ready to share ideas and who are ready to Network across the country to make this a reality this conference has made a big tangible dent in collaborating and breaking down silos and finding Partners not only funders but government nonprofits actual uh worker owners I think it's an exciting time for this big movement that has the potential to impact equity in a big way to put workers at the Forefront of businesses uh it's it's an opportunity to continue legacies it's an opportunity to get folks that don't necessarily start out with wealth an opportunity to attain it we don't have the ability to say Hey you come buy this business but we do have in any one of those businesses a whole bunch of employees who understand the business who understand how it works who understand how it ticks who understand the value it creates and adds in community and so the ability to connect those employees with the opportunity to be the owners with the opportunity to be uh the ones who are increasing not just their income but their wealth as a results of the business's operations uh if we can figure out how to do that at scale uh it's also the best path toward the sustainability of our local and National economies this conference has done uh an amazing job of curating that really special group of people who are ready to get this done I cannot [Music] wait
