Suggest questionWhat does it mean to create change with your everyday choices? We believe that something as simple as the coffee you drink has an effect on the planet and our global community, and you have the power to make that effect a positive one.
We know it's not enough for companies to simply pay farmers more per pound of coffee beans or tea leaves. Real change comes from working together, building partnerships and investing in the futures of farmers. Real change happens when consumers are closer to the people who grow our food.
That has been our mission since 1986: to build a more equitable trade system through co-operation, honesty and hard work. With your help, this vision can become a reality. And it's as easy as brewing a cup of coffee.

Fairtrade started to build supply chains that work for small farmers to make enough money so that they can stay where they live and cultivate products in a healthy way and one that respects the planet. Producing cacao makes me feel good. One, I contribute to the development of the country. Two, it increases my economic production. Three, it serves me very well. It's ready for chol. [Music] People come here to share with producers and with the technical team. So it's like a brotherhood. It has helped us improve the processes in terms of quality. That guarantees sustainability over time. Change means FAA. Nicaragua means Angica. Colombia means all of the farmers struggling and fighting. And equal exchange means the world to me from the point of origin through to the finished product. [Music] I always think of the farmers when I go back to my desk. What they are paying a little more for the fair trade product has a real positive effect, reaching mainly the producer. And you're the ones with your purchases who are demonstrating that this is a viable way to run a business. You can take a stance with your purchases, and that's really powerful.
About U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives
The United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives (USFWC) is the national grassroots membership organization for worker cooperatives. As a membership and advocacy organization, we connect worker cooperative members to benefits, to each other and to the larger cooperative and economic justice movements. We amplify our members’ voices to advocate for worker cooperatives at the local, state and national level. We provide consulting and technical assistance to cooperatives old and new. And through the education, training and organizing work of our partner organization, the Democracy at Work Institute, we are committed to ensuring cooperative business ownership reaches those who need it the most.
