Frequently asked questions

See all
1

Which advisors benefit from Zolidar?

Zolidar gives an advisor one place to work with every business they advise. Each owner has a workspace, where you work through the Day Zero Guide and Aha Planner together.

Every advisor plan, including Advisor Free, includes a dashboard of those businesses and referral links. Paid advisor plans add free or discounted plans you can offer owners.

To bring an owner in, see how an advisor invites a business owner to Zolidar.

2

I already use software with my clients. Why use Zolidar?

Zolidar isn't just another exit planning tool - it's designed to help you and your clients navigate paths that are often overlooked or underexplored. Here's why it's different:

Preparation and Confidence: Zolidar doesn't just help with planning - it prepares owners to take the first steps on their exit journey. If your clients are early in the process, Zolidar builds their confidence and conviction, making them more ready to engage with you as their advisor.

3

How can advisors try Zolidar?

Look around first. The Zolidar demo opens a sample business with its numbers already filled in. You sign in with your email. There’s no card and no data to enter.

From the Advisor section of your workspace, you can add a workspace for a business owner or copy a referral link. The link opens the Day Zero Guide, which can show your logo or name.

4

How does an advisor invite a business owner to Zolidar?

Add a workspace. Go to Advisor › Workspaces › Add workspace. The three steps are Workspace & plan, Invite, and Review. In the Invite step, enter the owner’s email and Zolidar sends them an invitation.

If the owner will pay for their plan, the email is required. Otherwise you can leave it blank and send the invitation later from your Workspaces list. On Advisor Valuation or Advisor Max, you can pay for the owner’s plan in the first step.

5

What happens when a business owner accepts an advisor’s invitation to Zolidar?

The invitation email has an Open your workspace button. Sign in, or create an account, with the email address the invitation went to. A different address won’t accept it.

You then join that workspace, and its dashboard opens. From there you can start the Day Zero Guide or Aha Planner. Your advisor works in the same workspace with you.

If the invitation has expired or been cancelled, ask your advisor to send a new one.

6

What happens when a business owner opens an advisor’s Zolidar referral link?

The Day Zero Guide compares employee ownership, a financial sale, and a strategic sale for your business. It’s 12 multiple-choice questions and takes about 10 minutes. You don’t need an account to start.

The link carries your advisor’s referral code. If you create a Zolidar account in the same browser within 45 days, your advisor is credited. If your advisor set the link up that way, they join your workspace as a collaborator to view and help with your work.

A link from an advisor on Advisor Valuation or Advisor Max may include a discount or a free plan. A link from an advisor on Advisor Free doesn’t.

7

What’s the difference between a Zolidar advisor plan and a Zolidar business plan?

Business plans are Business Free, Business Valuation, and Business Max. Each belongs to one workspace. It sets what the Day Zero Guide and Aha Planner can do for that business.

Advisor plans are Advisor Free, Advisor Valuation, and Advisor Max. Each belongs to one advisor. It covers the client dashboard and referral links, and on a paid plan, the plans the advisor can offer owners.

8

Can an advisor pay for a business owner’s Zolidar plan, and what happens if they stop?

An advisor on Advisor Valuation or Advisor Max can sponsor an owner’s plan. They can do it when they add the owner’s workspace. They can also choose Sponsor a plan later, from their Workspaces list or from Your workspaces. Advisor Free can’t sponsor a plan.

There are two ways to sponsor:

  • The advisor pays the bill. The owner keeps the plan while the advisor pays. If the advisor stops, the workspace moves to Business Free right away.
9

How is a Zolidar Hub different from a Zolidar advisor plan?

An advisor plan gives you a dashboard of the businesses you advise, access to each of their workspaces, and referral links. Paid advisor plans add free or discounted plans you can offer owners. Advisor plans run from $0 to $8,000 a year.

is a branded exit-planning site on an organization’s own domain. It suits employee-ownership centers, associations, and banks. It includes a curated directory of service providers, educational resources, regional insights, and engagement analytics. A Hub is $12,000 a year.

Connecting Owners with Advisors: Zolidar guides owners toward finding trusted resources and advisors. By the time they use our tools, they are closer to understanding their needs and are ready to connect with professionals like you. This makes your job easier, as owners come to you more informed and prepared.

Highlighting Viable Paths: Many healthy businesses may struggle to find a third-party buyer. Zolidar empowers you to introduce employee ownership as a viable and often ideal exit path. Our software helps your clients gain awareness and deeper consideration of this option, providing actionable information that's often hard to find elsewhere. Even if you're not an expert in EO, Zolidar equips you with the tools and insights needed to guide your clients through this process, expanding your service offerings and deepening client relationships.

Then start on Advisor Free.

Compare advisor plans on the pricing page.

Share a referral link. Under Advisor › Referrals, create a code and copy its link. The link opens the Day Zero Guide, which shows your logo or name. When an owner creates an account through it, you’re credited.

Each code has a switch that adds you to the owner’s workspace as a collaborator. It’s on unless you turn it off. On a paid advisor plan, a code can also carry a discount or a free plan. You choose both when you create the code.

The code works on any zolidar.com page. Add ?referral_code= and your code to a link such as the pricing page. The visit, the credit, and the collaborator invite work the same way. Your logo or name shows only on the Day Zero Guide.

Credit goes to the last advisor link the owner opened. It counts for a new account created in the same browser within 45 days.

Your advisor can put the same code on any zolidar.com page, such as the pricing page. It works the same way there. Your advisor’s logo or name shows only on the Day Zero Guide.

This link doesn’t add you to a workspace your advisor already created. An email invitation does that.

What a person can do inside a workspace also depends on their role there, such as Viewer or Editor. A role and a plan are set separately.

Compare plans on the pricing page.

  • The advisor gives a discount or a free plan. If the advisor stops, the plan continues until it renews. At renewal the owner pays full price if a payment method is on file. Otherwise the workspace moves to Business Free.
  • A Hub

Advisors on a Hub. A Hub’s directory shows the providers the organization picks. Its full directory page also adds public Grid profiles from the Hub’s region. So an advisor with a profile on The Grid can appear there without a Hub of their own.

A Hub doesn’t replace an advisor plan. An advisor works with clients through an advisor plan either way.
